Employer Abiliti Project
An innovative project funded by the Department of Social Services, bringing the lived experience and expertise of people with disability to the heart of Darwin’s employer community.
Codesign
At the heart of this project was a genuine commitment to codesign. Designed and delivered by people with disability through an extensive and authentic codesign process, this project created opportunities for people to share their ideas, experiences, and perspectives in meaningful ways.
"Along the journey, we learned a lot, developed new skills, built confidence, and, most importantly, had fun together."
This project reflects what can be achieved when people with disability are given the opportunity to lead, contribute, and shape outcomes that matter to them.
October Business
Month Event
This event was a significant milestone for the project. Through personal, passionate, and authentic stories of lived experience, our team brought the voices of people with disability to the heart of Corporate Darwin. Speaking with confidence, honesty, and pride, team members shared their experiences and demonstrated the value, skills, and contributions that people with disability bring to workplaces and communities.
It was a moment of achievement for everyone involved and left a lasting impression on attendees.
Workshops
Delivered
We delivered 6 workshops to over 100 attendees. At the workshops we used codesign videos and case studies to deliver the perspectives of people with disability direct to employers.
Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment, the City of Palmerston, and the Litchfield Shire Council for their leadership and commitment to progressing disability-inclusive employment.
Lived Experience Videos
One of the most meaningful outcomes of this project has been the opportunity for people with disability to share their own employment stories. Through these stories, we hope to encourage the community to think more broadly about disability employment and recognise the value that people with disability bring to workplaces every day. Each story highlights the importance of inclusion, opportunity, and recognising individual strengths, talents, and contributions.
Piece by piece,
together we achieve.
Each story highlights the importance of inclusion, opportunity, and recognising the individual strengths, talents, and contributions that people with disability bring to the world every day.
