The HPA Health & Wellness Festival has established itself as one of the Territory’s most engaging and iconic community events and takes place in the relaxed surrounds of the Darwin Waterfront.
We collaborate with industry leaders and host a vast array of stalls and over both days there is a variety of amazing speakers, workshops and demonstrations at our main stage. We also have a huge Kids Zone where kids can be entertained with things such as Circus Fun, Jumping Castle and activities, here parents can chill out and relax.
One of the most significant challenges for people with a disability, whether it be physical or psycho-social, is the ‘stigma’ that often initially confronts them from the wider community.
‘Steps Towards Capability’ targets up to 10 schools and incorporates education kits to reduce the stigma surrounding disability and educates the younger generation. The education kit also provides a pathway for both groups to be involved in the event.
The event has three elements; an insightful expo, collaborate activities and the walk. The ‘Steps Towards Capability’ fundraising Walk is a 7km stroll from Darwin Trailer Boat Club to Dudley’s Point and back (a shorter course is also available). Hydration and First Aid Stations are supplied. The Activities and Expo are held between the Darwin Trailer Boat Club and the Darwin Sail Boat Club and there are such activities as sailing, dance groups, music workshops to name a few along with kid’s activities.
We invite you to keep up to date with our events through our Facebook Page and come down and be inspired.
